Meet Listy and Max Lehman

2. What do you do for work and what do you like to do on the weekends around the 'hood?
Max graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters in Architectural Engineering in 2003. He has worked for Wallace Engineering as a Structural Engineer ever since. He started his career in Tulsa Oklahoma and asked to be relocated to the Castle Rock office five years later because his heart has always been with the mountains. Max loves skiing and mountain biking and said that he couldn't imagine starting a family without living in a place where he could share his love of the outdoors and sports with his children.
Listy also graduated from Kansas State University in 2004 with a Masters in Counseling and Psychology. Listy now works as a real estate agent at (nest) real estate group located right here in Platt Park.
We love our weekends around the 'hood. Our kids love walking to Platt Park to play on the playground and they also love walking to Wash Park to feed the ducks. We enjoying walking over to many of our wonderful restaurants on Pearl Street to get a break from cooking and dishes and also to sit on patios with friends to catch up. We love the farmers market and the summer festivals, but most of all we love that we have made many great friends in the neighborhood. Our current favorite thing to do is to have people over so that the kids can watch a movie on our outdoor movie screen and play in the yard.
3. How has parenthood changed your career path or informed the work that you do?
Max being able to work from home when he chooses has really helped with flexibility and being able to have a healthy work family balance. We feel very fortunate to both have jobs that are understanding and respectful of the demands that come with being a parent.
Listy worked at a non-profit as a family and child therapist for the past thirteen years. All of Listy's clients had open cases of child abuse or neglect and could not afford therapy. Listy worked with Family Tree and Adams County to offer these families free home based therapy to address the trauma in their lives. Listy knew after having their second child that something was going to have to give. Listy felt that therapy and being a mother pulled from the same energy source for her and even though she loved her job as a therapist she knew that she would not have the energy to maintain the level of dedication that it would take to offer her clients quality service and also be there for her family the way that she wanted to be. Listy approached Suzanne Knight the owner of (nest) real estate here in Platt Park and started to create a plan to exit therapy and enter the world of real estate. Listy now does real estate full time so that she can be more available to her family and more present for her children.
1. How long have you lived in the neighborhood? How long have you been parents?
We bought our house on Clarkson in the summer of 2008. We fell in love with the charm and the character of the neighborhood, being close to the parks, and being able to walk to restaurants. Our house was the third house that we looked at, but Max and I both knew that it was the spot for us.
We became parents the day after Christmas in 2010 and had an earlier than expected Easter baby in 2013. Chance and Savannah are now five and three and we couldn't be happier to be raising them in such a family friendly community.
