MEET HAILEY AND ANDY MUTZ

How long have you lived in the neighborhood? How long have you been a parent?

Andy and I moved to Platt Park in October 2012. We moved from Chicago and had gotten married two weeks prior. We found a rental house on South Pennsylvania St. and moved in sight-unseen. Luckily, our house was great and it was a block from the amazing Old South Pearl stores and restaurants! We knew we wanted to live in the neighborhood since we have relatives that also live in Platt Park and were familiar with it. After renting for a year and a half we bought a house in the neighborhood and have lived there for almost 3 years now.

Our daughter Alice was born in February 2016. We just celebrated Alice's first birthday in February with some bowling at Moe's BBQ on South Broadway. Both of our families were there and it was really fun!

What do you like about the neighborhood?

First, we love that it's so walkable. Being able to walk to Pearl St. is such a bonus with all the great restaurants and shops. We love going to Park Burger, Izakaya Den - among others. We live close to Rosedale and Lucille's now, so we go there a lot too. Also, we really like how family friendly everything is. Our block alone has about a dozen kids under 5, so it's really fun in the summer when we can all be outside together. Lastly, we like the location of Platt Park in that it is relatively centrally located between downtown and the Tech Center. Andy works in the Tech Center, so it was important to have a bearable commute.

What do you each do for work?

I am a stay-at-home mom with my daughter Alice. We have so much fun going to Storytime and Imagination Station at Decker, hanging out at the park, swim class at the rec center at Wash Park, music class, visiting the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Zoo and more! My parents and my brother's family live in Boulder, so we go up to see them a lot too. Prior to having Alice, I worked in the insurance industry as a commercial lines broker and before that I was on the carrier side as an underwriter. Andy is a multifamily real estate developer for AMLI. There is a lot of people moving to Denver, so he's busy! AMLI has several developments in and around Denver and Broomfield.

What are you excited to do this summer?

We are big fans of the Farmer's Market on Pearl St. In addition to growing a lot of our own fruits and vegetables, we love getting fresh food from local farms. We like going up to the mountains and exploring new things around Denver. Also we go back to Wisconsin a few times in the summer to spend time with family and do some fishing.
